Articulation of Content

My school used to be good about providing time for different grade levels to come together to express concerns about content. Teachers would come together and comment on what they had noticed in previous years about the academic ability of the students. And what we needed the previous year’s teacher to hone in on to help the students be successful for the following year.

We have articulation meetings set up to occur once a month at our school, but those meetings have been focusing on issues such as schedules, parent concerns, PBL, pacing plans, team teaching and less on articulation of content across grade levels. We are a big school and still growing, so different issues arise.

Since the standards were adopted this school year at our school we are also focusing more on becoming familiar with the CCSS, new curriculum, and team teaching. So we have not focused yet on different grades levels coming together to discuss content. Since we are such a big school and so many different things are going on at each campus it is sometimes hard to come together. The meetings are scheduled but now it is just a matter of devoting time to discussing the content of the grade levels.
